Slab bottoms as mills close sales
Merchant slab prices have softened in the last two weeks amid producers' January-casting volumes selling out. Initial support remains from China, where prices reached $650/tonne cfr in early December, market sources say. But it is at a slightly lower levels, Kallanish understands.
