Silkroad Nickel plans a nickel smelter in Indonesia
Singapore-listed Silkroad Nickel is planning to add a nickel smelter in the Palu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, Kallanish notes.
The first phase of the project is expected to add four 36MVA rotary kiln electric furnaces (RKEFs). This could process 3 million wet metric tonnes/year of nickel ore into 280,000 t/y of nickel-iron products.
