Sichuan Dugang trials new electric arc furnace
China’s Sichuan-based Dugang Iron & Steel has successfully hot tested its new 75-tonne electric arc furnace (EAF) and put it into trial production, Kallanish notes.
By outsourcing capacity quotas, the company’s new and only EAF boosts its total crude steel capacity from 800,000 to 830,000 tonnes/year. The EAF is planned to produce at least 60% special steel.
