Short supply pushes up Italian scrap price
Italian ferrous scrap prices are fast rising again on poor availability of material, Kallanish hears.
Prices have climbed by €20/tonne ($21/t) in two days compared to those of last week and the lack of material is forcing some producers to slow production because they cannot find any domestic scrap. In March and April there were virtually no scrap imports from other European countries, namely Germany and France.
