Shagang chairman disapproves of major EAF expansions
By the end of October China had eliminated 140 million tonnes/year of mislabeled steelmaking capacity according to the country's National Bureau of Statistics. Shagang chairman Shen Wenrong estimates that this could influence around 70-80 million tonnes of crude steel output as there will be around 20-40 million tonnes/year of new electric arc furnace capacity added over 2018-2019.
