Shen Wenrong cautions on Chinese EAF development
Shagang chairman Shen Wenrong, said in a recent interview that he does not believe that now is the best time to develop electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking capacity in China. Over the next 8-10 years, China's scrap volumes will increase and steelmaking technology will be further upgraded. It is then that the market will be more suited to the development of EAF steelmaking, Shen said.
