Shanxi Hongda begins converter construction
Shanxi province's Hongda Iron & Steel launched construction of two 100-tonne converters on 27 December, Kallanish notes.
The converters are designed to produce 3.5 million tonnes/year of crude steel for billet production through two continuous eight-strand billet casters. Hongda expects that the company will be able to produce bearing steel, spring steel and mould steel after the project is put into production in January 2020.
