Shanghai STAL books Fives’ stainless CRC mill
Shanghai STAL, a joint venture between Baosteel and Allegheny Ludlum, has ordered a new 80,000 tonnes/year 20hi cold rolling mill for a new high-end stainless steel plant in Shanghai, the engineering firm Fives says. The plant is expected to produce steels for high-end products such as smartphones and tablets, Kallanish notes.
The mill, due to be commissioned in 2017, will be able to roll thicknesses of 0.4-1.2mm and can handle widths up to 1,250mm. French-headq…
