Shangang Rizhao commissions ultra-wide caster
Shandong Iron & Steel's Rizhao steel base has commissioned and issued a final acceptance certificate for a continuous ultra-wide slab caster, Kallanish notes.
The caster is supplied by SMS. The new facility can produce structural steel grades and various low-alloy steels. The products have standard 3,250mm width and 150mm thickness, matching the widest slab casting globally. Capacity is estimated to be 1.5 million tonnes/year.
