Shangang orders Rizhao plate mill
Eastern China’s Shandong Iron and Steel Group has ordered a 1.3 million tonne/year Steckel mill for its Rizhao steelworks project, according to equipment supplier SMS Group. The new plate mill is scheduled to commission in 2019, Kallanish notes.
The new line will roll plate 4-50mm thick and 1,650-3,250mm wide from slab supplied by an SMS-provided continuous caster. Output qualities will include carbon and alloy steels and API grades for pipemakin…
