Shangang Laiwu shuts down steel plant

China's Shandong Iron & Steel Group's Laiwu Steel has closed the operation of its old steelmaking plant, in preparation for the commissioning of its relocated steel base. The steel mill plans to build two 3,800 cubic-metre blast furnaces, three 100-tonne converters and two 120t converters for the new project.
