Shangang begins work on Rizhao converters
Eastern China’s Shandong Iron and Steel (Shangang) has begun construction of the basic oxygen converters at its new Rizhao steelworks project, according to contractor China MCC17 Group, part of China Metallurgical Group Corporation. The project will eventually see almost 9 million tonnes/year of low cost coastal steelmaking capacity, Kallanish notes.
