Shandong Minyuan closes steel plant
Shandong Minyuan Iron & Steel completely shut down its production plant in Zhangqiu District of Jinan City this week, 17 years after it was built.
This is required by Shandong Province's capacity phase-out plan to achieve lower carbon emissions in the region. The steelmaker runs two 550 cubic-metre blast furnaces and two 60t converters at the plant, with 1.2 million tonnes/year of iron capacity and 1.9m t/y steel capacity, Kallanish notes.
