Shagang sees steel exports slump this year
By 23 May 2017 Shagang has seen its steel exports slump to 1.72 million tonnes of steel products since the start of the year. In 2016 it exported about 5.82mt of steel and was one of the biggest exporting steel mills but Chinese exports have declined sharply as prices are no longer competitive, Kallanish notes.
According to the company announcement 50% of steel exported over January to late May were high added value products.
