Severstal upgrades furnace for heavy plate production
Russian steelmaker Severstal has completed a major overhaul of methodical furnace No. 1 for the production of heavy steel plate and high-strength steel in Cherepovets, Kallanish learns from the company.
The furnace, used for the uniform heating of slabs before rolling on the 2800 and 1700 rolling mills, underwent extensive repairs to enhance reliability, product quality and energy efficiency, according to the company statement.
