Severstal starts coke battery decommissioning
Russian steelmaker and miner Severstal plans to shut down coke oven battery No.9 at its flagship Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant (CherMK). This follows the commissioning of the new coke oven battery No.11 last October.
The company says this will simultaneously reduce the burden on the environment, as well as reduce the cost of maintaining the technical condition of worn-out equipment. Emissions reduction will be more than 1,700 tonnes/year.
