Severstal improves efficiency with blast furnace upgrade
Russian steelmaker and miner Severstal will start the overhaul of blast furnace No.5 at its Cherepovets Steelworks (CherMK), says technology supplier Danieli.
The BF will be equipped with the Hoogovens design cooling and lining system in the bosh, belly and lower stack areas. The revamped furnace will have a 5,055m³ working volume and 15.1m hearth diameter.
