Severstal delivers bimetallic sheet for icebreaker
Russian steelmaker Severstal has started shipping the first bimetallic sheet for the construction of the outer shell of the bow of the hull of the “Rossiya” nuclear-powered icebreaker, the company tells Kallanish.
The bimetal was produced at mill 5000 at Severstal’s Kolpino site, using a new batch rolling method. The package consists of PCE500W ship steel as a base and a stainless steel cladding layer.
