SeAH Steel begins import of scrap from China
Korean special steel producer SeAH Steel booked 20,000 tonnes of Chinese shredded scrap in April and signed a contract for another 10,000t in May. It has therefore become the first scrap importer from South Korea, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom). Japan's largest independent electric arc furnace steelmaker Tokyo Steel Manufacturing has also imported in total 3,000t scrap over May-June from China, Kallanish notes.
