Scrap, rebar prices squeeze Turkish steel producers
Turkish mills have seen domestic steel demand improve slightly this week, although export demand remains weak. They are therefore not rushing to book scrap cargoes.
Although some producers are inquiring for deep-sea scrap, their price idea for HMS 1&2 80:20 is at $230-235/tonne cfr Turkey, depending on the origin. Despite ample availability, these levels are considered too low by suppliers.
