Scrap prices to rise in western Europe

French, German and Benelux scrap prices are seen increasing more than initially thought, by €20/tonne ($21), in line with strong international increases. Despite local mills planning to implement longer maintenance stoppages this month, suppliers are asking for €30-40/t on-month hikes. In some eastern European countries, suppliers are also asking for €15-20/t on-month hikes, while an Austrian steelmaker will be paying €20/t on-month more …
