Turkey scrap imports decrease in June as billet procurement grows
Turkish scrap imports declined -16.4% year-on-year to 1.46 million tonnes in June as billet imports grew and demand for Turkish rebar remained weak. The average overall price of the imports fell by $103/tonne to $272/t cfr Turkey, Kallanish learns from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
The decrease follows a -7.4% y-o-y drop in Turkey’s scrap imports May to 1.7mt and a -33.3% plunge in April to 1.17mt.
