Saudi iron ore imports slump despite Brazil-origin surge
Saudi Arabian imports of iron ore, mainly pellet used for direct reduced iron production, declined -16% on-year in July to 742,519 tonnes, according to General Authority for Statistics data monitored by Kallanish.
Supply from Brazil reached 346,439t versus zero in June 2017, but intake from Oman and Sweden fell -33% and by half respectively to 204,000t and 175,751t. Supply from Canada zeroed versus 204,008t a year earlier.
