Saudi imports more Japanese plate, Chinese HRC
Saudi Arabian imports of flat products under HS codes 7208-7212 surged 22% on-year in April to 251,864 tonnes, according to new General Authority for Statistics data monitored by Kallanish.
This was due to a 27% rise in hot rolled flats imports to 213,472t.
The most-imported product was HR plate above 10mm thick whose imports totalled 80,240t. Intake from China halved to 15,999t, but sourcing from Japan surged to 39,719t versus 1,304t in April 2017.…
