Saudi flats exports surge again in May
Saudi Arabian flat product exports surged again in May, by 167% on-year to 53,528 tonnes, according to new General Authority for Statistics data monitored by Kallanish.
This was driven by an almost five-fold increase in hot rolled flats shipments to 35,056t, as United Arab Emirates took in 27,090t of unpickled HR wide strip under 3mm thick versus only 1,926t in May 2017.
In January-May Saudi exports of flat products thus surged 55% on-year to 239,145t.
