Salzgitter contracts ABB to improve prospective EAF efficiency
Salzgitter has chosen ABB to supply its “ArcSave” electromagnetic stirring solution for the steelmaker’s prospective Primetals-supplied electric arc furnace as part of the SALCOS low-emission steelmaking transition.
By 2033, Salzgitter plans to replace its blast furnaces with three EAFs fed by two direct reduction plants running on hydrogen, thereby cutting CO2 emissions by 95%.
