Russia scrap consumption drops, collection nears 28-year low

Scrap consumption in Russia has decreased by 18% on-year during the first eight months of 2024, according to estimates by Russian scrap association Ruslom and data from Rusmet. If this trend continues, total domestic scrap consumption for 2024 is expected to be around 18.4 million tonnes, compared to 26.6mt in 2021.
