Russia’s 2021 stainless steel consumption ramps up
Russia’s real consumption of stainless steel increased in 2021, according to national special steel association USSA.
It amounted to 579,560 tonnes, up by 21.3% on-year, Kallanish notes.
Consumption of stainless cold rolled flat steel last year increased 32.3%, of hot rolled flats by 6.1%, long products by 24.4%, seamless pipe by 17.5% and wire by 24%.
However, consumption of welded pipe in 2021 decreased by 2.5% on-year and billet by 3.2%.
