Russian first-half stainless steel consumption ramps up
Russia’s real consumption of stainless steel increased in the first half of 2020, according to national special steel association USSA.
It amounted to 263,510 tonnes, up by 22.7% on-year, Kallanish notes.
The consumption of stainless cold rolled flat steel in H1 increased 36.1%, of hot rolled flats by 43%, long products by 5.9% and electric-welded pipe by 13.2%.
However, consumption of seamless pipe decreased in H1 by -12.8% on-year and wire by -13.3%.
