Russia rejects coal duty, ramps up MET instead
The Russian government will not implement export duties on metallurgical and thermal coal in 2023, contrary to previous suggestions.
"We have concluded that the mineral extraction tax (MET) is sufficient for the purpose, but will continue to monitor the situation in the first quarter," deputy finance minister Alexey Sazanov is quoted as saying by Russia's Interfax news agency.
