Russia ramps up stainless imports, purchasing group consolidates
Russia increased imports of stainless steel in the first half of the year, according to national special steel association USSA. Imports amounted to 197,350 tonnes, up by 28.1% on-year, Kallanish notes.
Production of stainless steel in the country increased in January-June to 71,960t, up by 12.6% on-year (see Kallanish passim). Russia’s real consumption of stainless steel increased in the first half to 263,510t, up by 22.7% on-year.
