Chinese export reduction seen hiking Russian stainless prices
Russia’s imports of stainless steel scrap increased in January-September, with the main supplier again China, says national special steel association USSA. However, reduced Chinese exports could increase stainless prices for Russian importers going forward.
Russia’s nine-month stainless intake was up 15.2% on-year to 323,00 tonnes, Kallanish notes. However, in September alone it decreased by 4.2% compared to August to 39,950t.
