Rock collapse kills worker at Coronado met-coal mine
Coronado Global Resources’ metallurgical coal mine in western Virginia has resumed operations after a fatal accident involving a rock collapse on 31 May, regulators inform Kallanish.
Brock Johnson, 27, was killed on the evening shift inside Buchanan Mine #1 when a section of rock plunged 7 feet (2.13 metres) from the mine roof, according to the Virginia Department of Energy. Johnson was operating roof bolter machinery in a new shaft at the time.
