Reduced China demand slashes Indian iron ore exports
Indian iron ore exports fell -30% on-year in December 2018 to 1.6 million tonnes, according to Indian commerce ministry data monitored by Kallanish. Their average value, however, was $76/tonne versus $63/t in December 2017.
The main export destination in December was China, despite a -33% on-year decline in intake to 1.22mt. This was followed by Japan with 140,260t, down -45%, and South Korea with 76,630t, up 6%.
