Record-high production lifts Turkey’s 2021 scrap imports
Turkish scrap imports continued to recover in December, rising by 8.2% on-year to 2.52 million tonnes. They were also up from November imports of 2.09mt, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Over 98%, or 2.49mt, of December imports were obsolete scrap. The Netherlands was the main supplier at 399,723t, up 1.1% on-year. The US followed with 345,316t, down 9%. The UK delivered 240,972t, up 40.3%.
