Lower rebar prices push down GCC billet values
June-delivery rebar prices will shape the billet market in the Gulf Cooperation Council. United Arab Emirates billet prices are seen coming down after Emirates Steel (ESI)’s steep rebar price decrease for June rolling and reduced quotes for local HMS 80:20 grade scrap, Kallanish observes.
ESI is now quoting rebar at AED 2,755/tonne ($750/t) ex-mill, while scrap is at $445-455/t ex-works.
