Rebar futures plummet, HRC performs better
Chinese rebar futures dropped sharply on Monday and set a new low since Christmas, while HRC futures only fell to levels seen a week ago due to better spot transactions, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded May 2023 rebar contract closed CNY 81/tonne lower than Friday at CNY 3,993/t ($585/t), while the same contract for HRC gained CNY 59/t to CNY 4,082/t.
