Raw steel output declines in US
The latest data from the American Iron and Steel Institute show raw steel production in the US declining in the last week of 2021.
Estimated production at US mills was 1.785 million short tons during the week ending 1 January, with mills operating at 80.9% of capabilities. Production was down 1% from the week prior when mills were operating at 81.6%, but up 9.5% from the same week one year ago when capability utilisation was 73.4%.
