Raw materials, construction strength drive Nucor tube hike
US tubular players see Nucor’s bid for higher tubing prices as a mixture of raw material pressure and opportunity, Kallanish reports.
Nucor recently increased its base prices for pipe, mechanical tubing, piling and structural tube by $50/short ton.
Like parallel increases in the oilfield market - which Nucor does not directly take part in - the hikes seem to be in line with rising scrap and skelp prices, says one Gulf Coast buyer.
