Railway blockade disrupts 53,000t of output at Alchevsk
The railway blockade in eastern Ukraine has so far disrupted production of 53,000 tonnes of crude steel at Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD)’s Alchevsk steelworks.
Production at Alchevesk was suspended last week (see Kallanish 17 February).
The consequences are “… catastrophic,” ISD says in a note. Besides crude steel, 48,000t of pig iron have not been produced, as well as 44,000t of coke, 34,000t of merchant slab and 15,000t of finis…
