Qatar helps lift Mid-East DRI production
Direct reduced iron production in the four Middle Eastern countries covered by worldsteel’s monthly report grew 11% on-year in July to 3.4 million tonnes, Kallanish notes.
The region’s largest producer, Iran, is estimated to have increased output 22.6% in July to 2.48mt, when crude steel output is estimated to have grown 11.1% to 2.2mt. This took January-July DRI output up 16.3% on-year to 16.65mt.
