Production rebound broadens to all key markets
Crude steel production in the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) surged 15.2% on-year in March to 169.3 million tonnes, although this came from a low base as Covid-19 hit output last year, Kallanish notes.
Chinese production rose 19% to 94mt, while Indian output surged 24% to 10.03mt and Japanese output was up 4.6% to 8.32mt. South Korean and Vietnamese output rose 4.7% and 37.6% respectively to 6.06mt and an estimated 1.94mt.
