Post-holiday Turkish scrap demand fails to materialise
The global scrap market may be focused on price development in Turkey, but Turkish mills continued to withhold purchases last week following their return from the Eid holiday, despite their requirement for material.
Due to the prolonged absence of Turkish mills, the pressure on scrap prices is increasing each day. Most market participants think mills will not accept any price above $520/tonne cfr Turkey for premium HMS 1&2 80:20.
