Global stainless demand may reach 50 million tonnes
The Posco Research Institute (Posri) expects global stainless steel consumption to increase to 50 million tonnes in 2018, according to its Stainless Steel Conference held in Seoul this month.
Posri expects 2017 global stainless steel consumption to increase by around 3% year-on-year to 47mt, Kallanish notes. Around 6.7mt of the total volume would be stainless longs and pipes, and around 33.46mt would be stainless flat products.
