Polish HR flats imports fall despite plate surge
Polish hot rolled flat product imports declined -8% on-year in August to 175,748 tonnes, according to data from Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) monitored by Kallanish.
Nevertheless, HR plate above 10mm thick comprised 48,925t, up 30% on August 2017. Of this, 35,655t was pickled universal plate not in coils, of which 15,579t came from Ukraine, almost double on-year. Moreover, intake from Czech Republic rose 16% to 4,149t.
