Plate pricing hike struggles against low demand
Lacklustre demand is holding back recent US plate base price hikes, Kallanish learns from market sources.
SSAB Americas led a domestic base price increase of $60/short ton last week, slated for the week of 1 May. Shortly after, SSAB and other domestic producers announced their participation in an anti-dumping trade case against cut-to-length plate from 12 countries-of-origin.
Kallanish currently puts plate at $580-600/st and hot-rolled at $480-500/st.
