Pandemic slashes Merafe ferrochrome production
Merafe’s attributable ferrochrome production from the Glencore Merafe Chrome Venture for the six months through June plunged -42% on-year to 120,000 tonnes, Kallanish notes.
This was the result of production cutbacks in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, market conditions and electricity curtailments to a limited extent, the South African firm says.
