Oxygen diversion curbs JSW Steel output in April
JSW Steel reduced production in April as it diverted oxygen production for medical purposes amid the intensifying second Covid-19 wave in India. The steelmaker supplied over 20,000 tonnes of liquid oxygen for these purposes, resulting in capacity utilisation of 91% versus 96% in March.
Crude steel output thus dropped 5% on-month in April to 1.37 million tonnes. Flat and long products output fell 9% and 5% respectively to 957,000t and 337,000t.
