Oil slump, Covid-19 freeze Kuwaiti steel demand
The nationwide Covid-19-related lockdown implemented in Kuwait from 10 May has brought the country’s construction sector and therefore its steel market to a standstill, local sources tell Kallanish.
Steel demand has been curbed by a cut in Kuwaiti government spending on account of lower oil prices resulting from the collapse of the OPEC+ agreement, as well as the pandemic’s impact on economic growth.
