US October imports rise, year-to-date imports fall
US steel imports were up month on month in October, but down year on year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Citing preliminary figures from the US Census Bureau, the AISI says US total steel imports rose 5.4% in October to 2.99 million short tons of steel. Finished steel imports likewise rose 1.4% to 2.26m st.
Year-to-date total imports, however, fell -8% to 33.89m st and finished steel imports fell- 2% to 27.44m st.
